About 5 years ago I was at a night that was raided by the police. I was with a lass who got into a bit of a barney with a policeman who proceeded to hit her. I tried to step in between it to protect her and ended up taking a beating for it myself and getting arrested.

On arrival at the station the policeman told the desk sergeant I had been bought in for assualting a police officer and drunk and disorderly, and I had my DNA and fingerprints taken & was put in a cell for the night.

In the morning at about 4am I was released without charge but issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice for swearing (which I don't remember doing but cest la vie), my legs were battered and I had an incredibly painful walk trying to find a taxi.

Anyway I've now been offered a place on a healthcare course that is subject to an enhanced CRB. I was told that if I didn't disclose anything that showed up the offer would be withdrawn so I put down my Fixed penalty notice.

I've now been asked to provide a full written statement of the circumstances behind this and don't know how much is going to show up on the CRB. I was never charged for this but if I put that I was just fined on a night out for swearing and it then shows up I had been arrested for assualting a police officer it'll look pretty bad.

I've never been in any trouble with the law before or since and being arrested was completely out of character, the police were just very heavy handed.

Anyone know how much detail an Enhanced CRB goes into?

I'd hate for this one stupid incident to mess up my entire life.

Everything shows up on an Enhanced CRB, including cautions.

If you say in your statement what you've said in the post, they will appreciate your honesty I'm sure. All incidents should be looked at in context.

To be honest it looks like you were done for Drunk and Disorderly, although it is unclear as you say.

What employers are looking for is any indication of offences relating to children and vulnerable adults and the possible risks an employee may pose. One of the areas they are looking for is substance misuse (like alcohol), but as this offence was over five years ago I do not see it being a problem.

Keep us informed of the outcome and best of luck.
