In 18 mths. our fixed rate deal is coming to an end.It is in my wifes name should will be 68yrs old, their upper limit is 75

We have had our house on the market for some time, but there are no buyers as the market is flat.

owe £130k,equity over £100k.We havent got an endowment in place as we were quite confident until the market collapsed

about being able to sell and come out with a decent capital sum

Spoke to Santander about extending the interest only term, all they can offer is a capital and repayment mortgage up to

75 yrs.That means 130 000 to be repaid over 6yrs.!(impossible)

We were badly advised by the mortgage broker at the time, the mortgage was with Abbey ,obviously now part of

Santander who have changed their policies and got tough on Interest only deals, when I asked what would happen

at the end of the deal,he said we could just keep paying the interest, this is not so.

I am very worried that they will not give us any extra time to sell, and may commence proceedings for reposession, has

any body on here got any experience of this situation or indeed any views on the subject.

Would the courts allow immediate posession, bearing in mind the property is on the market and we have tried to negotiate

with the lender?

Things are tough anyway,as I am self employed and struggling with my business, and on top of this my wife suffers

mental health problems,so the stress I am under is considerable.

Any opinions ,help or advice would be gratefully received, when I asked Santander what the eventual outcome would be

they said they couldn't say and I should speak to a Financial Advisor, what good would that do?
