Out of the blue I have a letter from HSBC saying that I may have PPI, I know I do and have heard of banks starting to write to people. They have attached a questionnaire that they have asked me to return, it is just tick boxes to fill and return (I don't have all the account numbers for my loans and credit card which it asks for at the top). My question is will I still have to do a SAR to get the correct account numbers to ensure I claim for all loans/credit cards - would I be better to do a SAR than to fill out this questionnaire to ensure I can see the picture of how much my claim is for rather than taking their word for it? I'm nervous to fill in the questionnaire incase I tick a box which may prevent me from claiming too having never done anything like this yet.

Thanks for anyones advice

Hi

If it were me I'd SAR them....personally I'd never trust a bank.

Instead of their questionnaire, download a "proper" one from the fos website and complete that when the time comes.

Before doing anything get the SAR done so that you can work out what you are due back.

I received a letter from LTSB last week advising that they had found in my favour regarding a claim I had made for mis-sold PPI on two loans I had with them in the 90's. Offer of £1200 on one and £1150 on the second. Funny thing is, I have never had a loan from LTSB. The loan account numbers correspond with my wife's bank account number although she has never made a claim. She is over the moon.

However the lady in Glasgow who's offer letter was also in the envelope is spitting feathers and is going to complain to ICO and LTSB for breach of DPA.
