bally versus Northern Irish Banks

Hi Just thought that I would introduce myself here.

Have started the long battle against two Northern Irsih banks, who for some reason have been getting away with thieving from the general public for too long.

I am ashamed to say that I worked for a number of these banks, although when I started many moons ago, we would never have bounced on anyone where the fee was more than the debit!!!!

These days its all about sales, and the pay for anyone joining is atrocious!!!!

One particular bank insists that all their staff make a number of points per day (not easy) by selling various products.

Their reward for this £150.00 per quarter minus tax etc!!!!!

The other thing which hit me in the face is that they only want fairly dim 17 year olds whom they can mould/ brainwash.

They dont actually appear to want anyone with a common bit of dogwit!!!

The big 4 now use psychological profiling as their test to see whether you are a suitable applicant ( in my day the ability to count etc was deemed more important).

Ye might guess that I am no longer in that particular industry (Thanks be)

but am happy to help anyone if I can.

If you look at my thread nervous v northern bank you will see how helpful LTWFB has been. Still i have had a few questions re the fees that are charged supposedly every six months and i did include them in my charges because i feel quite strongly about hidden charges that the Northern loves to introduce when they know the going gets rough for them. P.S. I used to work in the Northern x number of years ago, but then i was a young teenager who DID see the error of her ways and promptly left. My husband left 12 years ago! Maybe that's why we feel so strongly about our rights.

Hey bally35, can i run this by you? When we asked for the overdraft, the bank was charging us 11.74% interest. Instead of the 8% interest being charged can i use the one that i have quoted instead? someone said i can if it is in the contract. So, isn't the 11.74% in the contract? i am going back 6 yrs and this overdraft in this branch was only taken out in 2004. Can i use this for the entire 6 yrs. Please advise me.

This would be the contractual rate of interest.Thats where it gets complicated.

Some banks charge the unauthorised interest on the unathorised part and some on the whole overdraft amount.

To be honest with you nervous, I would stick with the 8% which is the stat amount you can claim as your wee head will be fried ( like mine) and the spreadsheets work everything out for you.

well sent myprelim letter and schedule of charges by recored delivery on 30/01/07

Isnt showing up on "track and trace", but that doesnt surprise me as my SAR was also sent using ths method Still not showing up on system (think I will claim compensation for this)

Anyhow have yet to receive acknowlegement letter from First Trust despite their promise to acknowledge complaints within two working days.

Just wanted to now how anyone else is getting on with First Trust as everyone seems to be very quiet at the moment................
